You wouldn’t think so but it comes in handy – I’m glad I have it… Actually so glad that I wouldn’t have minded (now) to have bought the other more expensive types out there available. They are a little longer and have one or two more functions (I forget what they were) I think flexibility or something… But really in the long run you’ll forget about the few dollars more that you end up spending and you’ll appreciate the little extra stuff that comes along… But having something is certainly better than not having it, so if you really wanna just save money? You can’t go wrong – and it might be worth having a few lying around anyway. You’ll end up like me – buy this one first to see if you like it and then buy another to have two hanging around. So in closing: I like the arm and suggest having it in with the mix of stuff I’m sure you already have. No?

I wanted to take photos at the Arizona Renaissance festival using my Canon 135mm F/2 and Canon 70-200 F2.8 L lens. They are both so heavy especially the 70-200 lens and I had hurt my back several years ago and it has never recovered. So I needed someway to get several thousand photos without killing myself.

What a God send this monopod was. I haver never owned one before and didn’t realize how usefull it can be. A tripod is just way too clumbersome for something as dynamic and crowded as a Renaissance festival. You have to be able to move out of the way quickly and to move to get the shot. A monopod fits the fill perfectly. After shooting for over 9 hours my back and arms were almost as fresh as when I arrived. I simply could not have stayed more then an hour or two without it killing my back.

Don’t forget you will probably want a ball head or some other head with a rapid connect release system. This is essential when you suddenly find you need to take your camera and / or lens off the monopod. I am using a Bogen-Manfrotto 488RC2 Midi Ball Head with RC2 Rapid Connect System (3157N) and found it works perfectly.

Induro Alloy 6M Tripod A-013 Review

After some research, I settled on this tripod and i can’t be happier. Like the previous reviewer commented, it’s really light, yet stable. It folds down neatly and fits in the nice carry case(with a cushy handle) with room to spare for a head. The twist locks work great and lock and unlock in less than a full turn for speedy setting up. The spring j-hook is a nice add-on, but i wish it was a bit bigger so it could hold my Lowepro camera bag’s wide strap. Oh well, it would be a bit bulky to have the bag on the tripod anyway. The double sided screw with both 1/4 and 3/8 fittings allows me to choose most any head, so no bushing needed. When the legs are folded, it makes a nice monopod too. The shorter max. height allows the tripod to fold down quite small and fit in my backpack or carry-on.

The case is great. It fits the S90 perfectly, and lets you operate all the controls with relative ease. You can turn the front control wheel, and you can *press* the rear control wheel in 5 different areas but not turn it. However, this is not a big disadvantage because you can still access all the features of the camera using various button presses, even if you can’t turn that rear wheel. It’s just a little slower.

Canon builds these cases for almost all their compact cameras, and they’ve got it down. You don’t want to go around dropping the case on random rocks, but it’s built pretty solidly, with thick plastic. It’s not leaked on me, nor did I ever have any problems with the very similar case for my Canon S30 that I’ve used over the past 7 or 8 years.

The flash is pretty lousy — it’s blocked by the case, though the included diffuser helps this a bit. But if you do much underwater photography you’re not going to want to use the on board flash anyhow, and this problem is shared with every single other point-and-shoot case out there.

I wish it was wider angle — the S90 goes pretty wide, but you lose a lot of this once you put it underwater. Some SLR housings have ‘dome’ windows rather than the flat piece of glass that this one has, and that allows you to get the full wide angle of the lens. Too bad Canon doesn’t offer that option here. But considering the price and the rest of the functionality, it’s still a bargain.

Note that Ikelite makes a 3rd-party case for the S90 which is pretty similar, but a little more flexible than Canon’s: for instance, you can screw on a wide-angle adapter lens in front of their case. That setup would clearly be better… but by that point it’s become triple the price of the Canon casing. If you’re going to spend that kind of money, you may as well keep spending and buy a full underwater SLR setup.

Kodak EasyShare P725 Digital Frame Review

My goal was to find a digital frame with great picture definition that would be reliable and easy to use. I did the usual: read lots of reviews, did lots of research. In the end I chose this Kodak EasyShare P725 Digital Frame although it was, I believe, a fairly new release.

The frame was a birthday present for my friend, and I wanted her to be able to see pictures on it right away. This EasyShare plays pictures directly from the frame, or from a memory card or a USB flash drive. I chose pictures that I thought she’d like and spent a happy afternoon organizing them onto a SanDisk Cruzer, so she could enjoy the frame while selecting her own pictures. The picture quality is crisp and bright, and there is none of that “funhouse mirror” distortion that you sometimes get when the picture isn’t the right shape for the frame. I knew my friend wouldn’t be happy seeing herself and her family egg-shaped!

If there is one thing about this product that could have been better, it’s the user guide that came in the package. But the online extended user guide and support is excellent, so it was only a minor drawback. The directions suggested checking for software, firmware and driver downloads. Note that there are no downloads available at this time for Windows 7, so that could possibly be an issue for users who run that OS (as my friend and I both do). It wasn’t an issue with this purchase since the drivers were up-to-date. There is EasyShare software available to be downloaded for free, to help with organizing, editing and uploading, but anyone who is satisfied with their current photo management software can pass it by.

This gift was a big success and so far has performed very well. Isn’t it satisfying when you have a great idea for a present and your research pays off, and the recipient totally enjoys it? This digital frame would put a smile on anyone’s face.

My spouse wanted the Z33WP to take pictures while snorkeling and of the kids in the pool. I was reading reviews of the camera and one mentioned sand. Good thought. The silicone case fits easily and has done an excellent job of cushioning the camera while keeping sand from scratching it up or infiltrating it. That’s five stars right there.

The float strap fits comfortably and doesn’t so much float as give you some time to grab the camera if you lose your grip. It has a tether point for your wrist or a tether point for a clip hook. It won’t roll out flat, but the camera detaches pretty quickly from a snap lock mechanism connecting the string to the unit. Five stars.

The neoprene case is useless. It has a light velcro ‘clasp’ with a hook clip on the rear of it. Take the hook off and put it on the float. The case won’t hold the camera securely. It would be useful to knock around in your dive or beach bag (as it is highly padded) until you are ready to pull the camera out to use it but I wouldn’t count on it to secure the camera in any fashion. Two stars.

If you only want a case – pass this up. If you want the silicone and float strap or can get this for less than buying the silicone guard alone, snatch this up. We’re very happy with it.

People say that if it isn’t a Sony accessory for a Sony product, it won’t work. Mine just works fine. A lot cheaper, too. I use it mainly for my PSP Slim for storing all my media files. Music, Videos, Pictures and Podcasts. The only thing I noticed as I started getting bigger Memory Sticks is that it takes longer for the game system to access the memory card on the initial start up. Not much of a wait just about 30 seconds to less than a minute. Overall, a small price to pay for a bigger storage space.
